Cheat Day...Not a Good Idea

I've always tried to have a cheat day when I'm sticking to a program. I'm up 4 lbs today and thinking that perhaps a cheat day isn't the best idea.

It wasn't even like an olden day binge. Lord knows I can't do that anymore. But the calories add up quick when you make the wrong choices. Kraft Dinner (eww...no idea why I eat it as it gets stuck anyways), HotDogs (again ewww. not really cheats more like just eating what the kids want). DH got home late and requested chicken wings so I picked some up with these onion ring type things I like. I had about 3 wings and 5 rings. Enough to fill my belly up. Even though I wasn't even hungry. Probably more thirst. Then I finished that off with a can of orange pop. And some chips and dip.

So I'm probably retaining water and what not. Time to get back to the store and pick up more food as we are out of healthy good stuff.

New week. Focusing on the following:
3 - 30 Minute Walks this week. Monday and Tuesday I am booked solid so this will be a challenge.
Fruit/Veg at every meal

Sticking with It

Well I've been tracking calories on fatsecret since I returned from vacation last weekend and you know what? I'm down 5 lbs already!

I've been focusing on no treats, protein and lots of it and no eating after supper and I'm doing good. I know I need to get back at the exercising so I plan to put that in place next week and start gradually.

The band really is just a tool. Sure I can't eat a huge helping of food and seconds and what not. But I can still put back a tray of nainimo bars a week, or 2 bags of chips a week or drink slushies and eat blizzards. And those calories easily can add up to weight gain. It's a choice. Everyday I will have to make the choice. What goes in causes my results, and how I feel.

I am so ready to go fall shopping ! My shorts and tees are all too big but i'm holding off buying until the season changes. Whee.

42 Down and Counting....

I'm thinking it's time to start a blog! I haven't written much about my journey and haven't held myself accountable. I was away on vacation this week and had much time to reflect on my successes and my challenges with the band.

I'll have to say that first chunk of weight came off easy. Without effort. And I look back now and realize that I was at 40 lbs gone 2 months ago! Considering that is only a third of what I need to achieve it's apparent that I need to get to work.

I have not changed my eating habits. I still snack at night. I skip meals and then load up on sugary carbs when I have a crash. I eat ALOT of fried food, takeout food. And the most dangerous this is I kind of feel bulimic by the number of times I eat until I puke.

So I did loads of reading on knowing when you are full. I did lots of reading to find out about protein that I can eat as I have too much difficulty with steak and pork chops which are the staple around here.

I restocked my cupboards with good foods for me. I started a fatsecret journal. I plan my meals in advance of eating them. I focus on feeling full when I'm eating and concentrate on chewing, smaller bites and enjoying the taste.
